How to beat the singlehood blues

By Sam Chege
So you are single and still searching sooo looong for Mr/Ms right? How about being bitten by the single hood bug not to mention the mounting pressure from the society for you to get hooked up or hitched?

The mere idea of being ‘stuck on the shelf’, with no man/woman in sight, no ring on your finger and more and more candles on the birthday cake each year is enough to drive any sane, successful and beautiful/handsome women/men nuts!

Many of us single people find ourselves on the recieveing end and how tough it is!It even become worse if the 30 plus years clock is ticking.Fear mounts in (especially for our sisiters) with myths, yes i call them myths, of how hard it is to get a child after 30 and all that gibberish that comes with it.At that stage, everybody starts nudging you to settle down(as if you have no brains of your own) or to get a child out of wedlock; and of course with no promise of helping you with the responsibilities of single parenthood!

But what to do?Does one just give in to that pressure and settle for less.NO WAY! Single or not, all human beings are complete and getting someone in your life does not make you more superior than the rest of us.And am not saying reationships aren't important.Am dying to get into one personally! (a serious one lakini).

Every single person need to appreciate themselves as God's creatures and cultivate a positive image that will help one get the right person. After all who wants to relate with a snoobish, sluggish, negative, bitter person?(wee, strong words there I can admit!)

You know Cupid is out there somewhere, lurking behind rose bushes, flying through clouds, pulling back his bow, penetrating the hearts of unsuspecting passers-by and transforming lonely singles into lovesick couples, but sometimes it seems impossible to get a dose of Cupid's magic if you are just grumpy and beaten up;you would scare Bwana cupid!Just because the matchmaker has not made you a match does not mean you need to become a Valentine Humbug who is all hog washed. With a little perspective and little self love you'll be ready go all out and enjoy the coveted February 14.Add faith in God into it and you are good to go.

LOVE YOUR SELF THIS VALENTINE!!!! I PROMISE TO DO THE SAME TO MY SELF IF I WILL STILL BE SINGLE BY THEN!!!
